The Sword Z

Sword Z is a legendary sword stuck in a rock on the planet of the Kaioshin. During Majin Buu's arc she is extracted by Son Gohan and used by him during his training. The young man showed considerable skill in using it, despite its weight, until, to test its hardness, he tried to cut with it a block of katchin, defined by Kaioshin of the East as the hardest metal in the universe, causing the breaking of the sword. This break revealed Elder Kaioshin, the Kaioshin of 15 previous generations, who had been imprisoned in the sword millions of years prior to the narrative by a very powerful creature, the God of destruction Beerus. He had imprisoned the Kaioshin in the sword after having beaten him in a duel following a quarrel between the Gods of creation and the Gods of destruction. As indirectly stated by Gohan, the concept of the Sword Z is based on the legend of the Sword in the Stone.

 In the timeline of the Trunks of the future, however, it is Trunks himself who succeeds in extracting the sword from the stone, and the sword is then destroyed during Trunks' fight with Dabra.
